It’s the job that every young girl wants and dreams of…money, fame, fashion, clothes; being made up everyday. If you haven’t guessed it already…..its the world of modeling.

20130201-201006.jpg
This past Thursday I attended the Chasing Beauty documentary. It gave a deeper look into the “ugly side of being pretty.” This documentary will premiere on VH1 in Spring 2013 but we were able to see the special screening early with Phoenix Fashion Week.

The models throughout the documentary were truly like you and me, each and everyone of them had insecurities, struggles and faced everyday challenges. One beautiful model said in her interview that she hated her chin and thought she looked like a horse. She was also told that she needed to get her chin “fixed.” I was truly astonished when I heard this, she was simply perfection in my eyes. (Shown below)

Behind the covers of Vogue and other high fashion magazines lie the rarely talked about stories….anorexia, depression and racked up debt. Those words probably wouldn’t come to your mind when you think of models and the high fashion world but this documentary dug deep into this world and uncovered the very unflattering part of being a model.

Each year thousands of young women arrive in Los Angeles with excitement and the dream of becoming a model and leave Los Angeles feeling ugly and unwanted by any agency.

In the end I thought this documentary was very interesting (and sad) looking through the eyes of a model. I give them so much credit for having such tough skin and dealing with daily struggles.

Red roses, cinnamon hearts and giant chocolate hearts covered with red tin foil. Just a couple of visions that come to mind when I think of Valentines day! My husband and I usually lay low on this day….last year we got Jack in the Box and watched Walking Dead (best Vday ever).

A friend of mine requested this blog/video topic and I thought is was a good idea!

20130128-210148.jpg
My first look is a work inspired outfit. The dress is from Forever 21 and it is the most comfortable dress I own! I love the pleats at the bottom of the dress, it gives it a very girly look! I bought my Gianni Bini, chunky black heels from Dillard’s (quite sometime ago) but I know that Jessica Simpson has shoes that look very similar to mine.

20130128-210424.jpg
My gun-metal/black necklace is from Guess By Marciano (it’s an oldie but goodie). I have also seen a similar twisted cluster necklace at Forever 21 and Target.

20130128-210654.jpg

I love this casual but girly look for Valentines day! This outfit is perfect if you are going on a dinner and a movie kind of date or even a surprise date to a fancy restaurant! We can start with my basic boyfriend tee in the color “Rose” from Nordstrom Rack (this tee comes in various colors and is a great layering piece). My “Chanel” inspired jacket is pretty old school but you can find one just like it at Macy’s in tan or black and white! My bottoms are skinny jeggings from Guess By Marciano (but you can truly find jeggings anywhere).

20130128-211154.jpg

My funky, fun hot pink and gun-metal necklace is from H&M!!!! They also have this necklace in a highlighter green color!!!

20130128-211331.jpg

My black clutch with a silver grip is from Charlotte Russe and my vintage inspired bracelets were bought from Alice Cooper. Ok, let me give you a little back story on this. During my freshman year of college I really started getting into vintage pieces, necklaces and bracelets….even vintage coats and bags. Lets just say I went a little over bored and bid on one of Alice Coopers pieces at The Brass Armadillo in Phoenix (he had a booth there with a lot of vintage jewels). I was lucky enough to have the highest bid and got the bracelet of my vintage dreams!!!! Well at least I still get a lot of use out of it! 🙂

20130128-211846.jpg

My hot pink silky top is from my favorite store…….drum roll please…. Forever 21! This top also comes in black and white.

20130128-212103.jpg

My diamond brushed gold necklace is also from Forever 21 and I love how this statement piece completes my look for Valentines Day! This necklace is no longer available in stores but you can still buy it online!

Hope you enjoyed the video today ladies!

I love discovering new local designers throughout the valley of the sun and I was lucky enough to meet Alyssa Bird, the designer and owner of Regenerous Designs. Not only does she have amazing pieces but she has a great story behind them.

20130126-204951.jpg
Alyssa takes salvaged textiles and creates handmade masterpieces. By doing this she hopes to show high end clothing companies that there is a sustainable solution to their regular contribution to landfills.

20130126-205803.jpg
Her pieces are very versatile for any look you are going for and I love that there are various ways to wear her designs. If you are going for a casual boho look you can wrap this scarf (shown above) twice around your neck and pair it with a oversized tee and some leggings or boyfriend jeans.

20130126-210513.jpg
This next design (shown above) is one of my favorites. Since I like to wear dresses I would pair this piece with a chocolate brown basic capped sleeve pencil dress and some knee high suede brown boots and maybe even add a delicate gold light weight necklace. The quality of her pieces are very precise and detailed and sturdy at the same time. They are great statement pieces that can tie your entire outfit together.

20130126-211132.jpg
The designer also added necklaces to her collection. This piece is a princess cut basket weave necklace with a combination of black, knit jersey and multicolored silky spandex. All of these pieces are hand-sewn which puts a personal touch on every accessory created.

So please check this amazing local designer out!

I watched the Inauguration for two reasons. 1. To see the President being sworn in (of course) and 2. To see what the Obama ladies were wearing!

20130123-182940.jpg

I loved Michelle Obama’s navy blue dress by Thom Browne. I thought it was a perfect fit for the Inauguration. Malia and Sasha looked amazing in plum purple and fuchsia pink; these colors pictured perfectly and I would highly recommend these colors on tan skin and dark colored hair.

20130123-224129.jpg

Thom Browne, Kate Spade and J. Crew….how could you go wrong with amazing and affordable brands? These tailored coats are simply amazing and I want all 3 of them! I love that Michelle Obama’s coat looks like it has a belt added to it but that actually is sown into the coat. This coat also looks amazing with her new sassy bob hair cut.

20130123-224521.jpg

This was probably my favorite look from the Inauguration Day. I love love love these beautiful fuchsia pink gloves. This is a perfect statement piece that compliments her entire outfit and in my opinion completes it. She inspired me to go find some gloves just like this! Thanks Michelle 🙂

Last but certainly not least, we have the beautiful Michelle Obama in a gorgeous red gown by Jason Wu. She also wore Wu in the first inauguration among various other events and I can see why!!! STUNNING!!!!!!!!

Hello Pretty Ladies!

I wanted to share this video with all of you showing a recent top I purchased from Forever 21 in their “basic,” section for only $10.80 and how I transformed this top into 4 different looks!

DSC05541

Work Outfit #1:
Navy Blue High-waisted pencil skirt is from Guess By Marciano
I love this skirt because it is very versatile; I wear this skirt for both work and play!

My black and white Tuxedo Blazer is from Divaz Boutique at Tempe Marketplace

My Nude Pumps are from Nordstrom Rack and they are a Vince Camuto piece.

DSC05547

Work Outfit #2:
Black and White high-waisted pinstriped pants are from Express.
I bought my pants in the “short,” length for the obvious reason that I am only 5″1 but these pants come in regular, long and super long. Most of them you have to order online but they are worth it!

Nude Boyfriend Blazer is from Nordstrom and I purchased it last Fall so they may not have the exact style but I know that they have a lot of choices when it comes to blazers!

Cream and Gold Funky Necklace is from Divaz Boutique at Tempe Marketplace (it also came with a pair of earrings but I felt that it was too busy together; so I wear them separately)

Brown Jeweled Ballet Flats are from Dillards shoe (sale) section; so I am pretty sure they do not carry them anymore but they are a part of the Vince Camuno collection so I am sure you can find something similar!

DSC05554

Day Time Look:
Mustard Skinny Jeans are from Wet Seal (they are always $19.50 and sometimes they are buy one get one 50% off)

Gold and Cream Studded Jacket is from the amazing Forever 21 (one of my most favorite stores if you can’t tell by now)

Brown Booties are from Forever 21 (I wrote about these boots in my last Forever 21 blog/youtube video) I got these babies for only $7.80

Gold Hoop Earrings are from Guess By Marciano (I love these earrings so much!!!!)

Weaved Tan and White Clutch (my best friend Amy Leslie bought this purse for me for my birthday…so you might have to ask her)

DSC05558

Night Out Look:
My bandaged black mini skirt is from Guess By Marciano (make sure to go up a size because it runs small)

Gun Metal Necklace is from Guess By Marciano

My Tweed Black and White Jacket is from Kohls! I bought it over a year ago so they may not have it anymore but is was a part of the Vera Wang collection so I am sure she has a similar cut to this!

Black Peep Toe Booties are from Dillards and they are by Jessica Simpson!

DSC05563

All of these looks that you’ve seen were inspired by this one plain Knit Top for only $10.80! 🙂

I hope all of you ladies enjoyed!

Get Inspired!

It’s just another typical Thursday night around 7pm for me…sipping champagne and eating Hors d’oeuvres…….lol I’m kidding! =) I was lucky enough to be invited to Rolf Salon’s Grand Opening last night and had great company with me!

DSC05487
LOBBY-PAN

The moment I stepped into Rolf’s it was pure paradise; very sleek and colorful in the perfect places with a touch of glam! If you are needing an updo for an event or just want a fun signature braid in their Braid Lounge; Rolf’s got you covered!

(Love this model, Kimberly Lopez was my favorite look of the night!)

During his event; there were models dressed in silk, chiffon and crystals walking around his salon and of course I had to take a picture with one of the beautifully tiny model wearing Furne Amato.

Later in the evening we took a stroll to the Scottsdale Quarter and visited the Grand Opening and Collection Launch Party of Kendra Scott. Her collection is fun and colorful and can fit with any age.
DSC05502
DSC05495
Her color choices are my favorite; I feel that they could go with just about everything hanging in my closet. Throughout her boutique she has different collections in different sections all to fit a color scheme which works perfect if you are looking for a particular color. Whats also very cool is the “Color Bar.” It is the perfect way to style for a custom look you are going for….or even for your bridal party! It works with a television touch screen, you choose the piece and then choose the stones to go with it and then it is made for you while you wait. I think this is a great personalized gift for the person who has everything!

So in the end I had a great Thursday night that I would love to repeat every Thursday! Don’t forgot to check out Rolf Salon’s revamped location at Gainey and get a customized braid for $20 and also check out Kendra Scott at the Scottsdale Quarter for that perfect personalized accessory made by you!

Happy Friday and Style on Ladies!

If you are reading this and live in Arizona; you will completely understand my blog today….for the others….you are going to think I’m a dork!

Over the past couple weeks I have had a hard time putting outfits together for this FREEZING weather and when I say freezing; I mean 43 degrees (Don’t judge me I am a native here). But I am lucky enough to have amazing friends and we had our Secret Santa Party a little late this year and one of the presents I received from my secret santa (thanks Monica) was this Charcoal Grey thick knitted sweater from Divaz Boutique (Shown Below)
What I love about this over-sized sweater is that I am short enough that I can wear it as a dress (with leggings underneath of course). Over-sized sweaters have really been a trend this Fall into winter and I am in love with this trend!
DSC0543
This sweater has a built-in scarf which gives it a very fun and different look; I decided not to wear a necklace with it because it would then look to busy. That is why I stuck with my bold, silver earrings (from Wet Seal 2010) to compliment the look!

I am also wearing a black out long sleeve shirt to go underneath my sweater to add a bit of spunk! I love the cut outs for my thumbs! Last but not least is my fun, vibrant statement piece ring from Forever 21 that I try to put with every outfit because I love the ring!

So next time when you are walking by a over-sized sweater on the rack; try it on and I guarantee you will love it!

Red carpets. Flashes coming from every direction. Photographers standing around for hours. Long gowns in every color imaginable. Men dressed up like uncomfortable penguins. Those are the visuals I see flashing before my eyes and in my head when I think of the Golden Globes.
The red carpet portion of the show is my favorite; I really don’t care who wins or loses the awards but what I do care about is the gowns….all of the lavish gowns and jewels!
jessica-alba-golden-globes-2013-red-carpet
I will start off with my favorite look of the night and that would be Jessica Alba in melon silk Oscar De La Renta gown with the perfect amount of frost around her neck. I also loved her choice of lipstick; it complimented her entire outfit.
heidi-klum-golden-globes-2013-red-carpet
My next favorite look of the night is from Heidi Klum in a one-shouldered Alexandre Vauthier gown. I loved the accent of the multicolored stone embellishments on the top lining of her dress and her earrings were the perfect touch!
taylor-swift-golden-globes-2013-red-carpet
Last but not least is Taylor Swift; she is wearing a Donna Karan Atelier dress in burnt red. This isn’t a color I would ever wear but the color matches he skin tone very well. I do feel like the entire look is missing something…maybe a deeper lip color; or even a darker smokey eye.

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DI4CJl2LE5w&w=420&h=315]

I feel like I talk about Forever 21 in almost every blog that I write but I just LOVE the deals I find and I have to share! Yesterday my mom and I did our Saturday tradition of going to the mall and this time around I found sweet deals that I couldn’t even believe I found!

I want to start this blog by talking about my Chocolate Brown Boots (shown below)! I only paid $7.80 for these shoes and I couldn’t be happier! I am wearing them as I am writing this entry and I am a bit distracted while writing because I can’t believe how cute they are….especially for the price! I bought these boots at the Chandler Fashion Mall location. As I said in my video above; I feel that the Chandler Fashion Mall location has a better selection of sale items than any other location in the valley! I would highly recommend going into that location today to go buy these amazing boots!

Hope you enjoy the rest of the blog video!

Happy Sunday!
