Day 3 of Phoenix Fashion Week was in full swing with cocktails and shopping bags in hand. I had a blast mingling with other local fashion bloggers and stylists with one of my great friends by my side (that actually talked me into starting my own fashion blog in the first place…love you Carly). Below are some fun pics from the night and a mini recap of the show! <3

Gents started the night off with a very different look that was clean and sleek. The minimal makeup on the women models went well with the subtle looks. I loved the women’s leather cap, hair slicked back in a ponytail. I could see myself wearing that cap with a deep color floral dress, cropped jean jacket and some motorcycle boots….perfect for fall! <3
Gents

One of my favorite designers Jhaus was up next with denim looks for all occassions! One of my favorites from her new collection was her denim pencil skirt. A pencil skirt is a must have in every women’s closet because you can pair just about anything with them. I cannot wait to get my hands on that skirt! Tutorial out soon on various ways to wear pencil skirts!
Jhaus

Next up was Paulie Gibson with his eccentric collection hitting the stage. Bright and bold prints come to mind when I think of his pieces. These are looks that I wouldn’t typically see the average male wearing on any given day but these models worked it.
Paulie Gibson

DPC By Dora Yim rocked it with so much attention to detail that you could see immediately when her pieces walked on the stage. The craftsmanship of each piece of clothing was completely on point. The color combinations and jewelry (that she made herself) worked perfect together and the music choice tied her entire show together.
DPC by Dora Yim

I love day to night transitional pieces; especially with my busy schedule. I like to buy clothes that I can wear for work and then dress up for night with a simple change of accessories (shoes, clutch and jewels) Bri Seeley knew exactly what she was doing when she designed her newest collection. Each piece can be worn in various ways and I love it….and she also used some of my favorite colors throughout her pallet (teal and nude).
Bri Seeley

Herbert Victoria was next up and completely killed it with his art inspired designs that tie into culture, adventures, and personal prosperity. I loved all of his details from the neckline, to the synched in waist with some of his dresses and the jewelry complimented and finished off all of his looks!
Herbert Victoria

Whimsical pieces in pastels officially remind me of spring; Stephanie Gentry’s line got me excited for tullips and lilys this spring. Her looks are not for the every day women; I could see her looks being worn for fun special occassions.
Stephanie Gentry

Proverbs By Efua had a distinct style of simplicity with a bit of edge and sharp stiching in all the right places. I loved the color combinations she chose throughout her collection, simple yet classic. What’s different about this designer is that her luxury women’s clothing is for a cause; to end human trafficking. Click here to find more information.

This year Phoenix Fashion Week debuted their show on October 3rd at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. The moment I stepped out of the elevator and into the Style Villa, I immediately was in fashion heaven. The Villa was in full swing with my favorite pieces from Shawl Dawls and The Shine Project and many others. As I found my seat I could feel the energy from the audience and the PFW staff. I am a part time people watcher at fashion shows and my part time job was in full effect that evening:). Everyone in the audience was on their style “A” game and looked stunning.

Fashion By Robert Black started out the show very strong with his colorful vintage collection that had a western theme that looked amazing on the runway. His styling touch was on point with every model that came out. Below are some of my favorites!

The Shawl Dawl’s collection is so very different from last year….the word I would use for this years collection is FIERCE! Their theme was “The Dawl Factory,” all of the models were wearing nude stockings and body suits underneath the shawls to make them look more “dawl,” like with black smokey eyes and nude lips….which I loved. The makeup and hair tied all of the looks together and I absolutely loved their show!

Black Russian Label’s designs were very different and artistic and nothing that you can get in boutiques pieced together. Standing alone I would definitley wear her pieces but the way that some of the looks were put together, I wouldn’t generally wear on a daily basis (more so for a special occassion). I feel like I would see her looks pieced this way in New York or LA.

Brandon McDonald from Project Runway season 12 showcased his newest collection and reminded me of Spring Paradise in Fiji. I pretty much wanted everything from his collection especially the nude ruffle two-piece suit. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

Linden’s collection was very soft and had a free spirited feel. Loved the light denim look paired against lighter colors and patterns. My favorite look was the denim and plaid jumpsuit (for those of you that know me, know that I own close to 15 jumpsuits and 30 rompers). Her looks can easily be transitioned to your closet and accessorized with simple pieces like a delicate gold necklace.

I wish it was still summer after seeing Dolcessa’s collection on the runway! I loved each and every one of her suits; the color combinations were on point and complemented each other and the headpieces by Melis Accessories were a perfect touch (can’t wait to get my hands on one!) Some of her pieces have already been seen in Sports Illustrated Magazine.

The energy from the first model that walked out on stage in Loin Cloth LA looks was contagious! All of the models seemed to really like what they were wearing because these guys were strutting their stuff and their jewels were a perfect fit by Clutch Jewelry! Loin Clothes pieces were very colorful and definitely stand out in men’s apparel. As a personal stylist it is sometimes hard to find bold and fun prints for men. I am excited to see what boutiques in Arizona will carry their brand because I can think of a few clients that would love their looks.

I had to add this picture of the two designers because I love their expressions and how happy they are! Congrats guys I am so happy for you and all of your accomplishments…A Penny And A Plan!

I was extremely impressed with designer Medium Apparel! When I saw the first woman model walk onto the runway I was excited. He took a chance and did a great job doing it. I loved the high waist a-lined leather looking skirt. I would buy that skirt in a heartbeat and can pair with just about anything in my closet; I also like how he coupled the look with a black graphic tee.

Over all the 2nd night of Phoenix Fashion Week was a huge success. I had a great time and now feel like I need to go shopping to find a nude ruffled suit! <3

Tuesday, October 1st kicked off Phoenix Fashion Week with their annual “Fashionably Pink Celebrity Fashion Show.” Local celebrities from all over Arizona were there to support the cause. The show this year benefited “Don’t be a Chump, Check for a Lump,”and helped raise money for local breast cancer research and treatment with the support of celebrities and the local community. Brittany Dawn Brannon kicked off the show as host of Phoenix Fashion Week. The show was held at Domus Luxury Apartments; a new contemporary complex that is close to being open.

Envy By Khanh’s Spring 2014 collection is sexy, bold and a true statement piece. Each and every one of his pieces in his collection are so very unique and colorful and are sure to standout on any runway.

I was the stylist for his show and had a blast backstage with lots of laughs, jokes and running around all over the Venue of Scottsdale. I thought it would be fun to do a “behind the scenes,” blog post opposed to just posting the runway pictures. The amazing Morgan McLane Photography took all of the backstage photos to give you a look at what “REALLY” goes on behind the scenes and she did a perfect job capturing all of the funny moments backstage.

Fittings, hair styles, make up and jewelry all go into play backstage while pulling looks for each model. All of the jewelry on the runway this year was from Hearts that is based here in Arizona. Hearts products are a synergy between artisan strengths and the natural materials the environment provides, along with the love and collaboration of their amazing design and style team. Each design is unique and exclusive to Hearts and looked absolutley fabulous on the runway. All runway photos of the models are provided by the talented DesertRose Images.

This past weekend I styled a shoot for Loin Cloth here in Arizona. Based in Hollywood, CA, LoinCloth Los Angeles is a lifestyle apparel brand who aims to provide original clothing to the young and ambitious. The brand’s purpose is to highlight the joys and tribulations of pursuing a dream. What started with just an idea and -$143 in the bank, has grown into a brand that equips driven individuals with the quality and comfort they need to take on life’s obstacles. With “A Penny and A Plan” as its motto, LoinCloth Los Angeles continues to see through limitations and reach for the next level.

Their collection is very colorful and hip and has changed my view on men’s casual wear in a fun and and floral print way. Loin Cloth will be debuting their collection at Phoenix Fashion Week this October. Make sure to get your tickets because this is going to be a MUST SEE show! Special thanks to my models for the shoot, Mat Tondreau and Dimi Augustin.

Colorful, sexy, sleek and confident; those are the words that come to mind when I think of the Ja’ire International Couture and their amazing collection. Based in Los Angles, CEO Nekia Hattley and COO Ja’ire Hattley are sisters and very passionate about their brand. They describe their brand as wearable art; stunning fashion for the person who wants to be seen, admired and desired. Each piece is innovatively designed promoting individualism, art, and fantasy.  It’s funk meets art meets couture. To see more of their collection stay tuned for Phoenix Fashion Week in October!

My new obsession at the moment is my Camelback Mountain, Block and Battaglia clutch! So obsessed that I put together an entire outfit around it! I am an Arizona native so as soon as I saw this clutch, I knew I had to have it! This is an actual picture of Camelback Mountain taken by the designer Christine Battaglia! Battaglia lives in Arizona with her son and boyfriend and is a full time real estate agent. When she’s not selling houses she is creating works of art.

This past weekend I had the privilege of working with and styling a shoot for designer, Michelle Hebert from Los Angles, California. Her designs are elegant and timeless, Hebert intertwines art and fashion that creates captivating designs for sophisticated women. At a very young age she pursued art, and within this pursuit she found her love for apparel design seeing people opposed to paper as a canvas. One thing she has never forgotten since her childhood was a statement by her father Achille C. Hébert II, “never give up your art”. By listening to his advice, Hebert’s designs to date have been worn by several entertainers such as Kelli Berglund of Disney Channel’s Lab Rats, Tracy Hutson from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and the 19th cycle winner of Americas Next Top Model Laura James. They have also walked down the red carpet at award ceremonies such as the 55th Annual Grammy Awards and the 2013 BET Awards. Within these next few months keep your eyes open for new work, new trials, new triumphs, and most excitingly an unreleased campaign. Below is a picture of Michelle Hebert at one of her shoots wearing a piece she designed and looking stunning and elegant as ever!

Hebert’s designs inspired me to style a bright colorful landscape on a tropical island. It took a couple weeks for me to find the perfect place to shoot these looks but after various trips around Arizona I found just the place! I collaborated with makeup artist Janae Shields, my amazing husband Mat Tondreau as my photographer and the beautiful and talented Kimberly Lopez as my model. Below are Michelle Hebert’s designs with a tropical twist. Enjoy!
