Envy By Khanh’s Spring 2014 collection is sexy, bold and a true statement piece. Each and every one of his pieces in his collection are so very unique and colorful and are sure to standout on any runway.

I was the stylist for his show and had a blast backstage with lots of laughs, jokes and running around all over the Venue of Scottsdale. I thought it would be fun to do a “behind the scenes,” blog post opposed to just posting the runway pictures. The amazing Morgan McLane Photography took all of the backstage photos to give you a look at what “REALLY” goes on behind the scenes and she did a perfect job capturing all of the funny moments backstage.

Fittings, hair styles, make up and jewelry all go into play backstage while pulling looks for each model. All of the jewelry on the runway this year was from Hearts that is based here in Arizona. Hearts products are a synergy between artisan strengths and the natural materials the environment provides, along with the love and collaboration of their amazing design and style team. Each design is unique and exclusive to Hearts and looked absolutley fabulous on the runway. All runway photos of the models are provided by the talented DesertRose Images.

I have lived in Arizona my entire life and I have never been to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. So this morning my family and I took a little stroll through the beautiful garden.

It’s fall but it is still 90 degrees outside, so I wanted to wear something that was cool and comfortable. My “go to” comfortable yet fashionable outfit is a romper because it is easy to slip on and looks put together. I love the fun ruffle flair on the bottom of the romper shorts, it gives it a real girly look. I paired this look with patent leather nude flats (perfect for walking) but if you want to dress up this look for evening wear, I would pair this romper with nude stilettos, a boyfriend blazer and a gold clutch.

This past weekend I styled a shoot for Loin Cloth here in Arizona. Based in Hollywood, CA, LoinCloth Los Angeles is a lifestyle apparel brand who aims to provide original clothing to the young and ambitious. The brand’s purpose is to highlight the joys and tribulations of pursuing a dream. What started with just an idea and -$143 in the bank, has grown into a brand that equips driven individuals with the quality and comfort they need to take on life’s obstacles. With “A Penny and A Plan” as its motto, LoinCloth Los Angeles continues to see through limitations and reach for the next level.

Their collection is very colorful and hip and has changed my view on men’s casual wear in a fun and and floral print way. Loin Cloth will be debuting their collection at Phoenix Fashion Week this October. Make sure to get your tickets because this is going to be a MUST SEE show! Special thanks to my models for the shoot, Mat Tondreau and Dimi Augustin.

I officially got “sugared,” at Sugar Sugar in the Scottsdale Promenade and I loved it! If you are new to “sugaring” you are not alone; I was a little skeptical going into it because I am not a fan of hot wax because it is hot and just plain uncomfortable. Sugaring is an ancient art of hair removal that was popular thousands of years ago in Egypt, Greece and Mesopotamia. Rediscovered ancient arts often are found to be the most effective methods, and this is clearly the case with sugaring. The technique is not commonly available because it’s a true art that takes much practice to perfect and all of the Sugar Sugar estheticians are highly trained sugarist-artists! I was very pleased with the result, I felt as if I was getting a mini massage on my legs while she was waxing them (nothing like hot waxing, I would practically hold my breath the entire time waiting for it to be over). After the treatment was over, they gave me a small bag of Hungarian Mud to soak my legs in and it felt very soothing. You can say that I am a happy camper!

Not only does Sugar Sugar specialize in all natural sugaring but they also specialize in natural facials! I haven’t had one yet but I can’t wait to try it out! Surprisingly I have never had a “all natural,” facial before and I am excited to see what the difference is. I am also excited to announce that I am teaming up with Sugar Sugar to offer all of my blog readers and clients a discount for their first visit. When you call to make an appointment or walk in, make sure to tell them that you heard about them from my blog!

My weekend was full of eating out, shopping and spending time with my sister in law (who is in town from Oregon!). So what better way to share the weekend together than taking blog pictures after shopping! This look is a casual hipster look that can be worn on a casual day when you want to look cute but feel comfortable!

Colorful, sexy, sleek and confident; those are the words that come to mind when I think of the Ja’ire International Couture and their amazing collection. Based in Los Angles, CEO Nekia Hattley and COO Ja’ire Hattley are sisters and very passionate about their brand. They describe their brand as wearable art; stunning fashion for the person who wants to be seen, admired and desired. Each piece is innovatively designed promoting individualism, art, and fantasy.  It’s funk meets art meets couture. To see more of their collection stay tuned for Phoenix Fashion Week in October!

My new obsession at the moment is my Camelback Mountain, Block and Battaglia clutch! So obsessed that I put together an entire outfit around it! I am an Arizona native so as soon as I saw this clutch, I knew I had to have it! This is an actual picture of Camelback Mountain taken by the designer Christine Battaglia! Battaglia lives in Arizona with her son and boyfriend and is a full time real estate agent. When she’s not selling houses she is creating works of art.

Block and Battaglia clutch was also spotted with none other than Busy Phillips, perhaps best known for her supporting roles on the television series Freaks and Geeks, Dawson’s Creek and Cougar Town.

Have you ever looked in your closet and felt like the picture above? Everything is the same color and cut and you don’t feel like you have a variety in your closet? If this is you, schedule your free consult with me and I can take you on a fashion journey for new and improved statement pieces that will blend in with your current looks!

But while you are waiting and want a quick fix I highly recommend this store I found online called USTrendy. It has all the styles you need whether you are looking for a casual weekend look to a dressy night out. You simply can’t go wrong! Below are some of my favorite pieces from the online shopping boutique!

IMG_4739
I love this mint dress and it is perfect for night or day and can be transitioned with a simple layering piece like a jacket (but who would want to cover the bow in the back). This is definitley a piece that will carry on into the fall!

IMG_4738
Simply LOVE this pale orange backless bow dress. I didn’t wear any jewelry with this piece because the dress is a statement piece within itself. I just paired this look with tan gladiator strapped wedges and put my hair up so I didn’t take away from the beautiful backside of the dress 🙂

I love a good big ol’ bag, the kind that could double as a diaper bag when my son was a baby, the kind that fits everything you’ll need on a flight, the kind that start to hurt your shoulder after carrying it all day, the kind that make me feel like I’ve lost my keys-wallet-lipstick because I can’t find it in that big ol’ bag… I do love them but it’s also nice to edit everything down, only take what you need for a an evening out with friends or a trip to the store and it’s even more fun when you have a super cute bag to carry your pared down necessities.

I started making bags to sell on Etsy a few months back and I love making a good ol’ clutch, I think they are both fresh and elegant. I love to play with colors and shapes & combining textiles. You can find them at Etsy.com/shop/BlockAndBattaglia Here are some of my favorites that are available now.

20130819-001131
I love this style for work since its just big enough to carry my iPad but without it it has a real cute slouch happening.

20130819-001215
I love the Pom Poms on this one, I strung them myself to go with this bag. The vintage embroidered fabric is so vibrant, this is a one of kind piece.

20130819-001220
Keep an eye out for this style coming soon with detachable straps…for those days when you don’t feel like lugging around the big guy but want to give your hands a break.

20130819-001225
Who doesn’t love Ikat, this particular woven fabric comes from India.

20130819-001236
I can’t pass up a beautiful Batik fabric, the shades of blue on this bag make my heart skip a beat.

20130819-001245
The most fun bag to make are these rouched fabric clutches. They are challenging to make but always turn out awesome.

20130819-001250
This is last one is very dear to me. I love Arizona, I love the desert. I snapped this photo of Camelback Mountain from the balcony at the Valley Ho and I think it’s such a fun homage to the place I call home.

Each bag I sell is handmade by me and I add a few bags each week so be sure to check out my Etsy store often to see what’s new.
