Emerging Designers Announcement Preview 2013

This past Friday I attended Phoenix Fashion Week’s, “Emerging Designers Announcement,” at the Toni and Guy Academy in Scottsdale. The moment I walked in I could feel the excitement and energy bouncing off every person in the room and was greeted by Brian Hill himself (the Executive Director of Phoenix Fashion Week)…which is always an honor!

Before the announcement, I was able to chat with other stylists and fashion bloggers about the 12 new designers chosen for Phoenix Fashion Week! (Pictures shown below)

For those of you that don’t know, Phoenix Fashion Week’s mission is to bridge the gap between national and international designers and premier retailers; their ultimate goal is to garner global exposure for Arizona’s fashion industry. Through educational fashion seminars, year-round fashion events, and charitable partnerships, Phoenix Fashion Week has gaining rapid acclaim for its community-service efforts and for infusing world-class innovation into the Southwest. I am lucky enough to be able to work with this AMAZING organization!

Every year Phoenix Fashion Week travels to different cities around the United States to find upcoming designers. During this time they have an application process and then from there, hand-pick 12 designers to enter the competition/boot camp. During this boot camp they learn the skills of being a business owner, marketer, designer, accountant and cheerleader for their business.

10 Year Reunion?!!!

A little over a month ago it actually “sunk in,” that my 10 year reunion is a couple of months away. It’s shocking to believe because I feel like I just graduated college a couple of years ago (but in actuality it was in 2006….yikes!). 10 years ago I thought I would be single, successful and surrounded by my amazing family and friends……only thing different from what I thought; is that I am married to the man of my ultimate dreams! 🙂 I wanted to write this blog because a lot of people are probably wondering what they should wear to their reunion! Our reunion is at a hotel, so I will probably go a little dressier than casual. Before I get started I had to share some of my high school pictures!

Below are some fun ideas for your high school reunion! 🙂

Had to post this picture because when I think of high school reunion’s I think of Romie and Michelle! (Probably not a look I would recommend but I love this movie).

This plum purple one shoulder dress is perfect for the curvy woman! The roughing is a great camouflage around the tummy and covers in all the right places.

This simple royal blue cotton dress is great for a casual reunion for almost any body type.

This little black dress pairs up perfectly with a colorful boyfriend blazer in coral, red or even fuchsia.

I think every woman should own a dress in this cut and color. This chiffon green dress is a great fit for almost every shape.

Another fun print and a fun color combo that I love! This dress can be paired with nude shoes and gold accessories!

More on the sexy side; is this sweetheart cut tube dress that is very form-fitting to the body. I recommend wearing nude shoes with this look and staying very minimal on the accessories.

This last look is a simple, black v-neck dress that I absolutely love! This dress can be layered in lots of jewels to make it stand out and I would also pair this dress with nude shoes! <3

Swimsuit Mania!

It officially hit 112 degrees yesterday in Arizona; so I thought today would be a great day to talk about swimsuit looks for the summer (since us Arizonan’s will either be inside in the air condition or in the pool).

Some of my clients ask me if they find a swimsuit they love…if they can wear it for seasons to come. I tell them that swimsuits are a lot like clothes; if it’s in season, “wear it” but if it’s not in season, “toss it.”

Let’s start with the mismatched bathing suit! This look is great for women with small torso’s that want to look like they have an elongated torso. The color combo is a great way to do that!

Black and sleek is the best way to describe this suit! I love the mesh on the shoulders and how it shows off her curves! This is like a little black dress…every women should own a black suit.

I love this pin-up suit look and the color is a perfect match! This summer you will see a lot of yellow in different shades/ombre effect.

This last swimsuit I just bought from Nordstrom and I love it! I have always wanted to own a nude suit because I can accent it with gold sandals and a gold hat. Or if you don’t like gold you can choose a bright and vivid color, like turquoise or fuchsia.

Ensemble Fashion Show

This Saturday I had the pleasure of working with Allie Olson, owner of Allie Ollie Boutique and designer of the Ensemble line. The funny story behind this, is after she asked me to style her show through email; I looked her up on facebook and realized that we went to broadcasting summer camp together over 11 years ago. I even have proof! Below is a picture we took during summer camp at a Phoenix Suns game and the picture underneath is us at a Phoenix Fashion Week Meet Up event a couple of weeks ago! Boy have times changed….and I lost my cheeks! 🙂

This fashion show not only was fun but went to a great cause! By bringing in pieces of clothing for the Sojourner Center (that provides temporary homes as well as programs that teach self-sufficiency, empowerment, and family skills, which helps women from domestic violence rebuild their lives and re-enter society) you received 50% off your purchase at Allie Ollie.

The pieces in the ENSEMBLE line are all about redefining mix and match style; they are designed for versatility and fun (as always) for women of all ages. All pieces are machine washable, made in the USA, and are great for either career or travel dressing because everything is wrinkle free.

All of the hang tags for the line were shot in the heart of Arizona, outside in the beautiful desert.

Couldn’t have done it without my amazing style team! Thank you so much ladies for making everything backstage calm, cool and collective! Special thanks to Audree and Janae that helped me style!

Fun Experiment! :)

During this beautiful Memorial Day weekend while most of you were bbqing and laying by the pool; I stayed indoors and caught up on some overdue cleaning, reading and took care of my husband (that recently broke his arm playing basketball). He is in a temporary cast (shown below)…and yes he looks like the bionic man :). So while he was resting; I decided to do some experimenting…since my husband usually takes my blog pictures I had to think outside of the box of a blog topic.

So while reading, I stumbled across an article on “DIY” face masks…so I decided to give it a shot! All you need is at least 6 strawberries and 2 tablespoons of honey. Toss the 6 strawberries in a blender until the fruit is mashed; then combine with 2 tablespoons of honey and apply to face for 10 minutes and “POOF,” you have a hydrated and exfoliated face :). The acids in the strawberries exfoliate and the honey hydrates your skin and I also noticed that it leaves your face feeling very smooth.

3 Year Anniversary With My Blog!

Today marks the 3 year anniversary with my blog! Time truly flies by when you are having fun! For 3 years I have brought readers my view on Fashion. Inspiration. and Lifestyle. Meaning….I find my favorite fashion items that inspire me to tweak it to my liking (and price) and turn it into a lifestyle <3 Those are the 3 words I live by in fashion.

More exciting news is that I hit over “1000” likes on my Personal Stylist page today (what an amazing weekend!) I truly appreciate all the love and support from my family and fashion friends for keeping up with me on social media! If there is anything you would like me to blog about or look for while shopping leave me a message on my blogs or shoot me an email [email protected].

Friday evening I did some shopping at one of my favorite stores…..Forever 21! I found some very flowy, comfy dresses that are great for dinner or daytime and also work well as a swimsuit cover-up. Both dresses have the high/low-cut (where it is short in the front and long in the back). Both dresses are also under $20 and can be dressed up with accessories (shown below)!

This dress is from Forever 21 and my necklace is from Target (received this beauty on my birthday from Rose and Erin…Love you ladies).

This is another dress from Forever 21 and the necklace too! I bought the black clipped belt from American Apparal for $12. All of these looks are super casual and comfortable for this hot summer!

Mirrored Effect Print….

This past weekend I was on a mission to find dark denim high-waist shorts…but of course when I am looking for something, I find and WANT everything else but what I am actually looking for. So while shopping I found this mirrored effect floral printed dress at Forever 21. This new print is on trend and will continue to be well into Fall. I am even starting to see this “mirrored effect,” in swimsuits too!

I love this cut and fit because I can wear it with a blazer for work and take off the blazer for happy hour or a date night. If you are an online shopper and want to purchase this dress make sure to buy a size larger than you would usually be because it runs a bit snug.

I Love What I Do! <3

I had the privilege of working with a women that just graduated from Arizona State University, that is a complete doll to work with! Mother’s Day Gift Ideas!

Shopping for my mom on Mother’s Day is always hard for me because my mom has everything! There is only so many mani’s and pedi’s I can get her or jewelry. So this year I am trying to think outside the box and I wanted to share my ideas with all of you!

For starters this Mother’s Day I am running a fun special! It is a 1 Hour Closet Consult for $100. This fashion journey starts at your home in your closet! During your 1 to 2 hour consultation; I will get to know you and your styling needs in order for me to assess your likes and dislikes and come up with a plan that is customized just for you. I will also mix and match the clothing that you already have in your closet to make new outfits for your every day wear…whether it is for work or play!

Another cool idea is premade dinners from My Dinner Kitchen. They provide pre-assembled meals to make your life easy; they design the dinner and prepare the ingredients for ready-to-cook meals from scratch. There pre-assembled meals are then frozen and sent home with easy to follow cooking instructions. They offer 6 different menus of ready-to-cook meals for your dining pleasure! So we decided to all go to downtown Chandler set up a tripod and take a picture! The picture above was one of many that we gave her in a frame colleage that we bought at Target. We also got her a small 4×6 frame to put on her desk at work. When she opened the present she was in tears! 🙂
